Film Publicity Design for global award-winning film 'A Death In The Gunj'

A Death In The Gunj
A DEATH IN THE GUNJ - MOVIE POSTER
Critically acclaimed actress and National Award winner Konkona Sen Sharma made her writing-directing debut with A Death In The Gunj a global festival release at TIFF. An indie drama set in the Anglo-Indian community of McCluskiegunj in the 1970’s, the film explores a family and its intricate relationships in a quiet corner of India. Dynamite Design took charge of the publicity design and titles for the film. To give it a unique voice, we used an illustrative approach for the film’s publicity ammunition. With strong characters in the film, character postcards with pictorial representation of the cast members along with a quick synopsis of their personality made for great introductions to the film’s stellar cast. A Death In The Gunj is Dynamite’s first film project and we’re thrilled to have been part of this quirky and out of the ordinary film.

The ensemble cast of 'A Death in The Gunj' presented us with a unique opportunity to tell each character's story. Our approach was to create character postcards. Why postcards? The postcards helped capture that era in post-colonial India when people used post-cards as a means of communication, as much as phones (PCOs), fax or telegram. These postcards helped lay the ground work for the setting of the film, while also teasing character traits and hinting at what the film has in store for viewers.
